Pair a host
Approve your own machine
Section titled “Approve your own machine”For invited pilot participants, run the pairing command supplied by your operator as darpan-connect, not root. The command prints a short code and an approval link. Public downloads are coming soon; the app and host addresses require protected pilot access.
- Open the link and sign in.
- Check that the code matches the one printed on your own machine.
- Review the read-only random address and enter your existing Linux username. Your machine’s display name is not used in its URL.
- Approve and wait for the command to finish.
Do not approve a code someone else sends you. Pairing grants access to a machine through your account. The completed connector receipt contains the final assigned address; a rare collision can change the preview. Custom addresses are not available in the pilot, and existing hosts keep their current addresses.
Start the connection
Section titled “Start the connection”The connector stores its pairing under /var/lib/darpan-connect. Only the connector and gateway can read it. Configure the gateway’s public origin to match the paired URL, then start darpan and darpan-connect.
sudo -u darpan-connect darpan-connect statussudo systemctl start darpan darpan-connectOn a custom gateway port, add --gateway-port <port> when pairing.
Remove a host
Section titled “Remove a host”Remove it from the host dashboard, or run sudo -u darpan-connect darpan-connect unpair. This withdraws its cloud access. It does not erase the Linux accounts or their files.
